Hailing from completely opposite suburbs of Chicago, Fitzgerald and Griff met through mutual friends who worked at the Metro, a popular Northside venue. Based on a common love for hip-hop, they bonded immediately, and formed J-Direct.
On their debut LP, Live & J-Direct, the duo works magic, blending Fitzgerald’s catchy hooks and witty remarks with Griff's organic, bass-driven production. From the dance-inspiring latin feel of the single, “Clap/Twerk” to the introspective “Hand Be Free,” Live & J-Direct pulls in influences from all types of hip-hop while remaining true to their own unique sound. They strive to create a fresh dynamic that pushes the envelope further than any other Chicago hip-hop record.
